What are Custom Orthotics?
Prescription medical devices, designed to adjust and control the functions of the foot and its alignment with the lower leg.
WHO needs Custom Orthotics?
• Patients with injury-causing motions of their feet, such as rolling in (pronation) or rolling out (supination).
• Patients who need to redistribute pressure on the bottoms of their feet to relieve pain caused by corns, callouses or bony prominences.
How do you know it is
Custom Made?
The difference between ‘customized’ devices and genuine custom ones is the plaster cast or a 3D scan cast taken of your feet capturing true, 3D impressions. If there is no cast, it can’t be custom.
Some orthotics are made using computerized force platform impressions of your feet. These orthotics are modified from a pre-manufactured insole. Unfortunately, they are often sold at prices similar to genuine custom orthotics.
Off-the-shelf orthotic devices are not custom made for your feet. Before purchasing any of these products it is important to first have a foot analysis by a Chiropodist.
